The ISGS Office will be closed on Thursday, November 26, 2015 in observance of Thanksgiving.

Illinois State Genealogical Society Announces 2015/2016 Election Results
 
November 4, 2015 – Springfield, IL: The Illinois State Genealogical Society (ISGS) announces results of its recent election for Officers and new Directors. The election was conducted during the Annual Meeting during the recent ISGS Fall 2015 Conference in Oak Lawn, Illinois on Saturday October 24, 2015. The following Officers were elected:
  • President: Dawn Carey Henry
  • 1st Vice President: Howard Manthei
  • 2nd Vice President: Susan Scoville Pope
  • Recording Secretary: Laura Kovarik
  • Treasurer: Margaret Truax
In addition, the following 2018 Directors were elected:
  • 2018 Director: Kristy Gravlin
  • 2018 Director: Angela McGhee
  • 2018 Director: Barbara McKean
On Sunday, November 1, 2015, during a virtual meeting of the ISGS Executive Committee, 2015/2016 appointments were made for various Standing Committee and Non-Voting Committee positions. If you don't have some family skeletons, you just haven't done enough family history research yet. Every family has heroes and scoundrels. How do you pass down this information to the next generations in your family in a healthy, safe way that encourages strong connections to family and good coping skills? Sometimes it is all in the way you frame it. Here are some rules for making sure your family learns from the past and proceeds forward into the future in a healthy way.

Janet Hovorka owns Family ChartMasters, an award winning genealogy chart printing service that is the official printer for most genealogy software and database companies. She is the author of the Zap the Grandma Gap book and workbook series that help people connect to their family members by connecting them to their family history. Janet writes The Chart Chick blog, the Zap The Grandma Gap blog, has written for numerous genealogy publications and enjoys speaking about genealogy. She is a past president of the Utah Genealogical Association and teaches genealogy at Salt Lake Community College.
